Rainy, Grumpy Tuesday- Turned Around!

Wow....you know it's going to be a bad day when my usually happy, smiling boys are falling out in the hall and frowning.  It seems everybody started the day off on the wrong foot!  But, guess what....we all turned it around (just like the weather) and had a great, happy Tuesday!

We began with some new songs about the weather and rain.  I was surprised at how many we have- there are many songs about rain and the weather- who knew.  Some were requested several times.  I'll post links to our favorites tomorrow.

We decided not to venture outside today, as it was raining, AND the boys haven't had free-choice indoor centers in quite a while.  So, we joined our blue friends and opened some play centers.  Choices included a puzzle, a barn with animals, a writing center, book center, or blocks.  Guess where most of my smart boys spent the whole time?  Writing!  They wrote, drew, placed stickers, and used stencils with cooperation and intensity.  I'm not kidding- they worked so hard, passing up other, more play-oriented centers to participate in a favorite interest- writing!  I took pictures, but failed to bring them home- post coming tomorrow.

After a music movement break, Ms. Kelly read the group a book about farm animals that are scared of a coming storm.  Unfortunately, they don't know what a storm is, and thus, are reassured by each precursor.  This humorous tale of silly animals brought storms to life.
Afterwards, the kids were treated to a 'movie' of Ms. Frizzle and her Magic School Bus, who ride out a storm.  We're growing fond of that show!  It's a great way to take an in-depth look at scientific concepts that are otherwise abstract.  The kids love it and they are short.  Here it is if you would like to view:
Tomorrow is field day with Ms. Angela!  Yea!
