We Voted!

After a huge good-bye to Ms. Michelle (see earlier post), we learned about voting.  Ms. Kelly shared a book with us, then taught us about voting.  We learned that voting is a way for lots of people to make a choice- who will make the rules, who will set the speed limit, who will be in charge.  Voting involves going to the special voting place, the poll, getting your piece of paper and making your choice.  Voting only happens on a special day- and is only for adults. At night, after the poll close, all the votes are counted and the winner is announced.

Then it was off to the poll to 'vote' ourselves!  It's right across the street at the Greek Church- how convenient!  Traffic stopped on East Boulevard and we crossed like ducks with ducklings.  The kids spotted the flag and knew that was the place to vote!  A few at a time, the kids silently walked in to see the poll.  It's Ms. Ellen's poll, so she voted while we were there.  They never missed the eleven 'I Voted' stickers we borrowed!

On the walk back to school, the kids 'voted' on whether to a) eat lunch or b) color their flags next.  Eating won by a landslide....always does!

Another fun day of TK- there are only a few more left!
