Taste? Eating? What a fun topic for the day! We began with our book this morning. We learned all about the types of taste: salty, sweet, sour and bitter.
After practicing our new vowel sounds (there are quite a few, so it is taking some time to learn (memorize) them we headed out for a "Sensory Walk".
On our Sensory Walk, we HEARD:
- chainsaws
- machines
- cars and tires
- laughter
- birds
We SAW:
- friends
- children
- cars
- workers cutting down a tree
We FELT:
We SMELLED:
- fresh air
- exhaust from the machines
- a purple flower
We TASTED:
- nothing.....at least that I saw!

Following our Sensory Walk, we returned to class to have a Taste Test! What better way to learn about the types of taste than to......TRY IT! We tasted a lemon (sour) the rind (bitter), an orange (sweet) and salt (salty). For good measure, we also had chocolate morsels (what fun is a taste test without chocolate??!!).
|
Joseph enjoyed TWO lemon slices! |
|
I think that face means Tucker doesn't like the lemon????!!!! |
|
Want an orange? "No thank you!," says Beau. |
|
Evan LOVES the lemon! |
|
We tried all four types of taste. |
