Ms. Angela returned with fun, running and jumping activities! The kids enjoyed using her jumping balls, jumping off a barrel and
Upon return from outside, Ms. Cortney read us Curious George and the Boat Show, which gave a great overview of 'sinking' verses 'floating'. Next, we were ready for our own experiment on flotation. The children predicted whether an item would sink or float, then placed it in water to see what would happen. Not only were the kids wrong about some of their predictions, but so were the teachers! To our surprise, wooden blocks and pencils float....who knew?
The final results of today's sink or float experiment. They tried their best to replicate this graph on the back of their journals. |
When his friend Bill asks George to mind his model boat, George

Experimenting with the buoyancy of his toys, though, George is able to construct another boat that floats. Level one in Houghton’s new reader line means that text is minimal and simple, perfect for readers learning to sound out words and looking at art for visual clues. Activities include making a paper boat and experimenting with buoyancy. |
