Day 6:

We had such a fun day and I forgot my camera!

Tomorrow, I will be taking pictures of the kids performing their puppet play again. It's too good to miss. Anyone with a video camera?

Morning circle now includes a math section and question of the day section. We counted out 10 beans into our own bottle which gave me a chance to observe rote counting and one to one correspondence while counting. It can still amaze me how children can enjoy the simplest of activities with everyday objects!

Our question of the day, "Who is in your family?", led us into a discussion of our weekly theme. We read the book, "My Family Has Fun", which told us about what the girl likes to do with her mom, dad, sister, brother, grandma and grandpa. All the kids had a chance to tell what they liked to do with their family. After they are framed, you will get to see your child's rendition of your family portrait!

Today was our first day of "Moving with Michelle". First, we moved a light, smooth ball around the circle and then we moved a heavy, rough ball. The kids moved over to a long tunnel, crawling through it several times. I,however, chose not to crawl through the tunnel but cheer them onward! The big parachute was probably the favorite as the kids waved it up and down, played 'popcorn' on it with balls, and took turns running underneath.

We closed our day out by exploring letter magnets on our individual boards. Soon we will be working on letter recognition and sound symbol association following the Lindamood Bell Reading program.

Make sure to have your child read their daily journal to you. They are improving in their ability to track from left to right, matching their spoken words to the picture/word symbols.
