Day 7: "Tornado Tube" Fun

Everybody earned all of their stickers in order to make a 'tornado tube' as a group! We assembled the 'pop' bottles together, pouring green food coloring into the water. The kids did a great job taking turns churning the water to make tornadoes. It was a great opportunity to work on saying, "It's your turn now", letting go of the bottles when we so wanted to keep the fun in our own hands! Since the bottles are heavy with all the water, the kids would ask a friend to help them stir up the tornado. I'll be planning how to use the tornado bottle as a reward since it seems to be quite popular!

Has your child told you about the fun we had outside today with Ms. Amanda (PE teacher)? We walked out to the court yard to find colorful objects, ropes, hula hoops, a tunnel and cones placed strategically on the lawn. I believe your kids will sleep well tonight after their running, crawling through the tunnel, jumping and game playing!

We didn't have a chance to practice our puppet play today, but hope to do so tomorrow. However, we did listen to an online reading of "Goldilocks and the Three Bears"! In order to work on sequencing and story structure, I am introducing books with simple plots that we can retell using pictures. Looking forward to acting out this story with little, medium and large size bowls, chairs, and 'beds'.

You found a folder in your child's backpack with a big purple 'P' on the front with little stickers of the 'P' stuck right on top. We practiced identifying the letter along with it's sound, while talking about how we make the sound. We are calling the 'p' sound a 'quiet lip popper'. As we glued the pictures on page, I would say the word and the kids would tell me the first sound. We will be adding to the 'P' folder as we go along. Hmmm...I wonder what the 'b' sound is called?

I am hoping that as your child shares his journal with you that we will see an improvement in his ability to retell personal experiences, adding details along the way.

Joseph told us all about his little soccer and baseball that are attached to strings. He even showed us how the balls come back after he throws them since the string is attached to his wrist. His final comment was, "I like Michaels (store) the best because we get good things for the treat box there!"

See you tomorrow!
