We all worked together to clean up the art supplies and clean the table for our friends before lunch time. See the pictures of the kids wiping the table to make sure the table is ready for lunch. The kids on the 'green team' put all their friends' lunchboxes from preschool on the table for them. There were more opportunities to help each other at the end of the day as we put our papers in the backpacks, zipped them up and put them on our backs!
Not only did we read our book about the 3 friends that would not help the little red hen, but we watched and sang a song that retold the story on the IPad. Afterward, we sang two other songs on the IPad: "Five Green and Speckled Frogs" and "Down By the Bay". I would pause on each frame and we would talk about what we saw in the pictures before moving onto the next frame. The kids earned turns to push the 'next' button when they participated.
There was a lot of excitement as the kids made friendship bracelets for each other using stickers and crayons. Each child gave their friends a bracelet they had made just for them.
During our center time, we worked on sequencing by cutting and pasting the 3 things that the little red hen did to get ready to bake. We each took turns verbally sequencing the steps using the pictures.
Tomorrow is cupcake day! We will be helping each other make cupcakes and frosting as a treat to celebrate the completion of "The Little Red Hen" activities. I am sure the kids will save cupcake for you!
