Fill a Bucket with Warm Fuzzies!

We are bucket fillers!
Just in the nick of time, today I had the pleasure to teach my ALL-TIME FAVORITE lesson on......BUCKET FILLING!

It's really a simple concept.  See, we all are born with an invisible bucket.  Our bucket is filled by the kindness of others AND ourselves.  It's filled up with warm fuzzies.  When it's full, we feel happy.  When it's empty we feel sad.  We fill buckets by being kind, loving and helpful.  Our books had many examples of bucket filling activities.  We are bucket fillers!  The kids added some of their own ideas, too!

But buckets can also be emptied when someone dips into our buckets by using cold pricklies (unkind, rude, thoughtless actions).  When this happens, someone is being a bucket dipper.  No cold-prickly bucket dippers here!

Because this is my all-time FAVORITE lesson, we had NOT one.....NOT two.....but THREE books about bucket filling!  We had hoped to read all three, but two was just enough. If you don't own at least one of these books, buy one soon.  You've never heard me say that before, but these books are fabulous!  Our family lives by them....
Ms. Kelly read Have You Filled a Bucket Today?
Ms. Ellen read How Full is Your Bucket?
Have your child tell you about things they did to fill a bucket today!  Want to learn more?  Check out:  http://bucketfillers101.com/pdfs/Certificate1.pdf

We made Bucket Filling Art using aluminum foil as the bucket and filling it with lots of warm fuzzies, including:  listening, following directions, making cards for friends, raising hands, hugging and kissing!  Feel free to add more warm fuzzy ideas at home.

Tomorrow, Ms. Carol and Ms. Cortney will kick off the 100th Day Celebrations.  It's only the 98th day, but it's never to early to start the party!  There will be LOTS of counting between now and Wednesday, the official 100th day of school!  WOW- what an accomplishment!
