Finally....the much anticipated 100th day of school is here! What fun...we began by reading Henry's 100 Days of Kindergarten by Nancy Carlson, but instead we read, "Henry's 100 Days of TK!" This simple text talks tells about each month of school, from the first day until the 100th day in February and gives celebration ideas. We had a few ideas of our own....
Using a 100s chart, we counted to 100....everyone all together! Then we sang the song below. It's fast, but the children loved it so much we sang it twice....well, the children listened, since it is so fast, but it was still popular!
After a delightfully warm and interactive recess, we returned inside and read a book about being scared in the night. Ms. Kelly read it while I set up for the exciting math and art project turned into one.
Next, we made our 100 days hats. Ms. Corney, Ms. Kelly and I each led a center. In each center, the children put 10 objects....stickers, cotton balls, noodles, rice, letters, dots, and beans.....on a strip of paper. When all 10 strips were added, we had hats with 100 objects on it!
We counted over and over today- LOTS of math!
Tomorrow we will head to the park to enjoy some spring sunshine.
