Visiting Mr. Josh and Ms. Jamie at Dilworth drugs

Today we began by reading a book about pharmacists, then we headed to Dilworth Drugs to experience the pharmacy first hand. Ms. Jamie and Mr. Josh gave us goodies, told us about their jobs and showed us lots of medicines. We learned about medicines and how they work to keep us healthy.

Once back at school, Ms. Kelly demonstrated how a sneeze spreads germs. She pretended to sneeze into her hand, blowing a handful of pom-pond all over us! The pom-pom germs went everywhere! Finally, she sneezed into her elbow and the germs stayed in her arm, helping to keep us healthy. We all practiced covering our mouth with our elbow. Please, please practice and encourage this healthy habit at home!

We also read a book about germs and watched two songs about germs. I looked over the children's faces during the movie- they were so engaged.....but faces filled with complete disgust! What a great touch this has been!

I can't wait to see my friends tomorrow- we will finish our study of germs. Next week we will learn about healthy food.

They even provided us with goodies.  The kids LOVED having their own hand sanitizer!
