Llama Llam Misses Mama!

We finished our lesson today on emotions and feelings with a sequel to yesterday's book, Llama, Llama Mad at Mama (see post below).   Yesterday, the kids were asking for today's book....but I managed to hold them off.  Finishing our theme on emotions and feelings, we learned about sadness, leaving, and how to stay happy through this adorable rhyming text.

After reading the story, the boys helped create a tree map of ways to say 'goodbye'.

In the 'Warm Fuzzy/Bucket Filler' category, we came up with these rules for saying goodbye:
  1. One fast hug
  2. One fast kiss
  3. One fast "goodbye"
In the 'Cold Prikly/Bucket Dipper' category, we named these activities:
  • too many hugs
  • crying
  • holding onto legs
  • hiding (being shy)
The kids came up with these on their own!  Feel free to remind your child of these the next time you see some separation anxiety.

It was windy, but nice and warm on the playground.  Because DUMC preschool also has smaller enrollment, so we enjoyed being outside with just a few other friends.  The boys have made good friends with our preschool friends, often playing chase games and sometimes calling each other by name.

Once back inside, each boy spent some individual learning time with Ms. Ellen, using rhymes, shape, or number cards while other children worked independently on a puzzle or word book.

We've been so busy this week that we haven't been able to do our journals everyday.  We were happy to be back to our journal routine today.

Have a great weekend and I look forward to learning about 'Five Senses' next week!
