Just Try It!

Today's story was about a goat, Gregory, who only wanted to eat "terrible foods" according to his parents.  He craved fruits, vegetables, eggs, and fish.  After trying to no avail to get Gregory to eat a variety of trash (as average goats do..), his parents rushed him to Dr. Ram.  The doctor ordered that Gregory try one new food each day.  After trying show strings and shows, Gregory learns he can learn to like new foods by......JUST TRYING IT!  Gregory begins to eat everything....including dad's tie!  We talked about how we can learn to like new foods by trying them, too!

Check out the video version of the story, which we watched during lunch:

Ms. Michelle brought a perfect hopscotch rug for us.  Ms. Kelly showed us how to jump and we all made great improvement in just a few minutes of practice.  Next, Ms. Michelle arranged three large blocks into a pattern.  Each child covered his eyes, then, after studying the design, built one exactly the same.  We had to look carefully at the orientation of each block!  The best part of the OT session was using large stencils to trace a selected shape.  After it was cut, we punched holes and wove yarn to 'sew'.  What a fun way to develop fine motor skills.  Thanks, Ms. Michelle!

Beau was the first to bring in an item for our new show and tell format.  He told us all about his soccer ball....It is white, red and black.  It can roll and bounce.  It has air inside it.  He even demonstrated throwing, kicking, and catching.  Great job, Beau!  We can't wait to see what our other friends bring to share!
